You must receive an accrediatation from Honda to operate a Honda Sooter or MUV

No Makeup Classes will be available.

NOTICE ON USE OF SCOOTERS

Usage of Honda Scooters on open public streets requires a M-1 license with the DMV.   All riders of scooters who carry a valid license but do not have the M-1 endorsement will only be allowed to ride scooters only within the barricaded streets within the Formation area, Post Parade area or along the Parade Route and only while the streets have been officially closed off to public access.  The Chair of your Committee will be responsible for notifying you which streets are closed off to through traffic and will also be responsible for confirming with you when the street closures have been implemented.  These closures will be performed in accordance with the Tournaments Staging Plan with the City of Pasadena.  If you have a valid M-1 license, you will be permitted to ride on City streets outside of these closed areas to perform any duties assigned to you by your Chair.

A REMINDER ABOUT SAFETY:

The Tournament is thrilled to have a strong long-term partnership with Honda. Honda supports our organization in many ways with the more visible sponsorship being through the vehicles, scooters, side-by-sides and generators we utilize on the days leading up to and on Parade Day.

Honda and the Tournament this year will continue to stress rider safety and proper vehicle usage:

All riders and passengers on a scooter and/or Side-by-Side must wear a helmet issued by Honda at all times; there are no excuses or exceptions. No hats, winter caps, or other head gear may be worn beneath the helmet.

Unless making traffic signals, or using hand signals to communicate with a parade entry, two hands should be used to operate your scooter or Side-by-Side, at all times. Do not take selfies or videos while you are riding your scooter. 

Scooters should transport a single rider and only personal items that will fit in the storage trunk of the vehicle or in a backpack. Do not attempt to transport folding chairs, tents, heaters, or other bulky items.

Obey all speed limits and practice defensive driving for your own safety and those around you.

Violations of these basic saftey rules will result in your disqualification from use of Honda products for your Tournament duty for TWO YEARS. Disqualification is in the complete discretion of Parade Operations management. 

RELEASE OF CLAIMS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT (RCIA)

ROSE PARADE JANUARY 2, 2023

I, the undersigned, hereby represent and certify that I am at least 18 years of age and that I possess all licenses required by the State of California to operate the specific type of vehicle that I intend to ride.  I understand that the improper operation or use of vehicles, such as failure to observe and obey all traffic laws and safety rules, or failure to wear all required safety apparel, may pose a risk of serious injury to the operator of such vehicles.  Although I am aware of the possible risks inherent to operating such vehicles, I wish to ride on a Honda Scooter/MUV for Tournament of Roses duties in Pasadena.

I expressly agree to assume the entire risk of any and all accidents or personal injury, including death, which I might suffer during my operation of the scooter.  I participate in this knowing the existing weather conditions, road conditions and any other conditions, which might affect this activity.  For and in consideration of the opportunity to take part in the Tournament of Roses and ride a Honda scooter/MUV, on behalf of myself, heirs, personal representatives, successors and assigns, I give the following releases and agree not to make a claim or to sue.

I DO HEREBY AGREE NOT TO MAKE A CLAIM OR TO SUE American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Honda Motor Co., LTD., or any other Honda entity and each and all of their related companies, officers, directors, and employees, (“Releasees”) from any and all claims, demands, causes of action or liability of any kind for injury, damages or death which I may now or in the future have, known or unknown, which in any way result from or arise out of or during the course of my use of a Honda scooter/MUV.  I waive the provisions of California Civil Code Section 1542 which provides, in substance, that a General Release does not extend to claims which the releasing party does not know or expect to exist which if known must have materially affected the settlement.

Further, I agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Releasees from and against any and all claims demands, causes of action, liabilities, damages and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees and costs) arising from any injury, death, or damage that may result from or arise out of or during the course of my use of a Honda Scooter/MUV.

This agreement not to sue and release extends to any and all claims I may have, specifically including, but not limited to claims with respect to design, manufacture, repair or maintenance of the vehicle which I will be riding, or with respect to the conditions, qualifications, instructions, rules or procedures under which the operation is to occur, or from any other cause.  However, I do not release any party from intentional misconduct. 

I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT AND FULLY UNDERSTAND IT AND THAT IT INCLUDES A RELEASE OF LIABILITY.   I have read the Honda general guidelines supplied to me and agree to abide by all terms and conditions mentioned therein.  I am not relying on any statements or representations of any party released hereby.
