GHR Student Research Funding Proposal

St. Catherine University is proud to partner with Minneapolis-based GHR Foundation to build upon the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health’s legacy of preparing the next generation of professionals to lead and influence. As the recipient of two generous grants from the Foundation, St. Kate’s is able to provide students with a high-quality education that ensures their skills are relevant and applicable in the ever-changing healthcare industry.

This form is to serve as a tool for students who need financial support for a research project. This funding supports research-related expenses, such as supplies, materials, transcription, etc. and does not include support payments to students or faculty supervisors. Proposals will be funded up to $5,000.

ELIGIBILITY: All St. Catherine University undergraduate and graduate level students are eligible to apply. This project must be connected to academic work at St. Kate's and aligned with the AEG Conceptual Framework. Students must have a Faculty Mentor willing to supervise and oversee the project. 

DEADLINES: Applications will be accepted on a rolling deadline and will be considered until funds are fully allocated. 
 
The GHR Grants Leadership Team will review applications, notify applicants of their award status, and support post award management with awardees.

Funding Priorities

Your application must address one of the areas in the freamwork for health of ICP, Cultural Fluency, or Ecological Approaches or be related to global health, primary care, or senior living, or related to Clinical Innovation or Inclusive Excellence. 

Framework for Health:

Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (ICP) - when multiple health workers from different backgrounds work together with patients, families, carers, and communities to deliver the highest quality of care (WHO, 2010)

Cultural Fluency - ability to navigate the many dimensions of culture needed to build shared meaning and understanding with people from other cultures. It is comprised of several skills such as working with ambiguity, flexibility, respect, empathy and adaptability (Inoue, 2007)

Ecological Approach - grounded in the understanding that the conditions that result in individual health or illness arise out of the interaction between an individual’s traits and their physical and sociocultural environment and are influenced on multiple levels (e.g. intrapersonal, interpersonal, organizational, community and policy (Sallis & Owen, 2015)

Letters of Support

Your research project must be supervised and overseen by a Faculty Mentor. This Faculty Mentor must submit a letter of support of your research project and application for this Student Research Funds proposal.

Budget

As part of your grant application, you are required to submit a budget of your project. Download a copy of the budget template to use as your guide.
 
In addition to a budget, you will need to fill out the following budget justification. It should be concise, but should also provide specific, detailed information regarding the necessity of each budget request. Provide as much detail as possible regarding equipment needs, services, supplies, etc. 

Possible Budget Items or Needs:

Equipment: Why is this equipment needed for the successful completion of the project? 

Supplies: What supplies are needed and why are these supplies (whether office supplies, research supplies, etc.) necessary for the successful completion of the project?

Travel: Why are travel funds vital to the work of the grant? Be specific regarding travel plans and associated costs. This does not include travel for conference presentations - those funds are available through the GHR Student Conference Awards

Printing/Copying: Be as specific as possible about your anticipated printing/copying expenses. Pricing is available from Document Services.

Mailing: Be as specific as possible. Pricing is available at the Post Office window.
