We are living in unprecedented times…COVID-19 is not only a national public health pandemic, but is causing a myriad of challenges for the public, private, and philanthropic sectors. The collateral damage is not only unemployment rates that haven’t been experienced since The Great Depression, but local economies and institutions are having to find creative, and at time draconian ways, to proactively respond to the current climate.

What does all this mean for the community development industry and practitioners? Our institutions have always been at the forefront of providing patient capital, technical assistance, and social services to historically under-resourced communities. But how can we effectively navigate this “new normal” for the foreseeable future and ensure that the communities, residents, and businesses that we primarily serve are able to still thrive and have an even better quality of life?

We know the saying, “when the country catches a cold, low-income communities catch the flu”. Please join us on Friday, June 19th at 12pm EST for our virtual webinar entitled, “Advancing an Equitable Economy After COVID-19”. The discussion, which will be facilitated by women at the forefront of this crisis, will center on three themes:
  • How have organizations been required to pivot (in terms of programs, financial resources, staff) in response to COVID-19?
  • What does success look like in a post-COVID-19 world?
  • What are the key leadership skills/attributes that women of color need to lead organizations during this pandemic?
