Enrollment Procedures and Admission Policy

Our student enrollment criteria are as follows:

General Enrollment Criteria

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Need to have been licensed for one year within the United States
  • Must have the basic and fundamental skills to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to understand highway traffic signs and signals
  • Must have all the proper paperwork to obtain a permit from your state DMV
  • No DUI in the past one years or more than two DUI’s in a lifetime.

All students will be required to take and pass a DOT physical and drug screen prior to the start of the program.

All students must meet the United States Department of Transportation physical qualifications as stated in Section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier’s Safety Regulation Handbook. Students are required to disclose contagious diseases.

Once these requirements are met, applicants are asked to contact the school and take part in an admissions interview. Upon acceptance, the applicant will then need to complete the enrollment agreement and provide payment for tuition.

Enrollment Procedures and Admission Policy Continued

Any one of the following conditions may be cause for non-admittance: Traffic Violations

  • More than one at fault accident in the past three years
  • If your current license is suspended, cancelled or revoked in the State of New Mexico or any other state
  • More than 1 careless and/or reckless driving convictions in the past three years
  • Any alcohol/drug related violations in a motor vehicle in the last five years
  • More than three moving violations in the last three years

Criminal Convictions

  • A felony criminal record in the past five years. Felonies over five years are reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • A misdemeanor record in the past will be reviewed by the Director who may waiver the time limit on a misdemeanor charge depending on the circumstances of each case
  • Parole or restricted probation

Job Placement Assistance Services

 TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program will provide lifetime job placement assistance for all its students. For us to do this properly we ask that you fully disclose all pertinent information with regard to your driving/background/work history. Please note, the trucking companies will run your driver record, background and verify all previous employment. It is in your best interest to be upfront and honest with all questions on the applications.

TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program cannot guarantee you will get a job. We will do everything we can to assist you, but your employment offer is based on the information you have provided on your application.

TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program cannot guarantee you will obtain your Class A CDL license. We will provide you with all the necessary tools to pass the CDL exam, but it is ultimately up to you, the student.

Although every effort is taken to ensure the accuracy of the contained information, no responsibility is assumed by TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program for clerical, editorial or print errors. From time to time, some changes will be necessary but will be done so while adhering to the strict guidelines and approval of the New Mexico Higher Education Commission.

TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program respects your privacy. We will not sell any information to outside parties and any transfer of personal information for pre-hire purposes will be done so with the student’s written approval.

Photo Release Disclosure Statements

I hereby consent to the use of photographs/videotape taken during the course of the program for publicity, promotional and/or educational purposes (including publications, presentation or broadcast via newspaper, internet or other media sources). I do this with full knowledge and consent and waive all claims for compensation for use, or for damages.

Excused Absences and Unexcused Absences

The following will be considered excused absences:

  • Death in the immediate family
  • Sickness that would disrupt or spread to the rest of his/her class or affect their ability to operate school equipment. A doctor’s excuse for missed school will be required to obtain make up work and any prolonged illness will required.
Students may not miss more than 3 Excused Absences. ( Doctors note required or they will be marked as unexcused) 

Class attendance and punctuality are part of the commitment a student makes when deciding to attend TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program. It is the student’s responsibility to arrive for classes on time, return from breaks on time and remain in class until dismissed.

Our CDL program is a fast-paced learning environment and requires 100% commitment from the students. It is very important that our students are present and on time every day that you are in the program to ensure that you are fully prepared to test.

  • Attendance is monitored daily by all instructors as well as the administrative.
  • Attendance will be documented in quarter hour increments for late arrivals and early.
  • Each student is required to sign in when arriving and sign out when leaving.
  • All classroom/range training days are MANDATORY.
  • All signatures must be legible and in black or blue ink only. Sign-in sheets become the official source document for recording attendance. No alteration may be made on the attendance record without an instructor’s approval.

Any student having two (2) or more days of unexcused/ no show absences will be dismissed from class.

No student will be allowed to re-enter class without the approval of the Director of Training or the School Director.

Program Hours

When you arrive at the training facility you will be required to clock in and out each day. This will track your hours for the entire program. At the end of each week your hours will be checked to ensure that you are meeting the necessary hours to complete the program. (This is why your attendance should be a priority.)

4-Week = 150 Hours

3-Week = 110 Hours

2-Week = 70 Hours

You will only be allowed to complete the program and skills test if you have clocked all the required hours for the program. If you are under the completion hours, you will be required to complete those hours at an additional $65.00 per hour.

I understand the class attendance policy and if accumulate two (2) or more days of unexcused/ no show absences I will be dismissed from class. I understand that TFH Safety Solutions maintains a strict policy in hopes to allow for the best training possible for our students. *

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students must meet the following criteria: 

4-Week = 150 Hours of training

3-Week = 110 Hours of trainin

2-Week = 70 Hours of training

Notice of Withdrawal

A student who is considering withdrawing from TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program must see the Director of Education. Once a decision is made to withdraw from the school, an official exit interview form and/or a withdrawal letter needs to be completed which can be obtained from the Office. The completion of this form is especially important to students to prevent problems that may surface when students do not properly withdraw from school. Not showing up for class is not proper withdrawal.

Credit Transfers

TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting, LLC does not recognize credit for previous education from other Class A Commercial Driver’s licensing schools. Prior history will not substitute for any courses or practical training at TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting, LLC.

Student Behavior and Conduct

TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program provides quality career training for those students desiring to learn how to operate a Class A vehicle in a proper and safe manner. Students are expected to begin their professionalism from the moment they arrive on day one. Respecting fellow students, the instructors, and the administrative staff will facilitate a positive learning environment for all involved.

The use of any illegal drug or controlled substance while attending TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program on or off campus will not be tolerated. Any student found or believed to be doing any type of illegal or controlled substance will be subjected to a mandatory drug and alcohol test, at the student’s expense. If the student tests positive for any of the substances tested, that will be cause for immediate dismissal and loss of all tuition paid. We are clear on our policy regarding drug and alcohol use while at TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program.

Disruptive behavior of any type will not be tolerated. Examples can include but are not limited to the following:

  • Tardiness
  • Excessive absences
  • Use of cell phone in class, only permitted on breaks
  • Undisciplined talking in class
  • Sleeping in class
  • Negative attitudes
  • Coming to school under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
  • Verbal threats or violent or unruly behavior
  • Bullying or derogatory remarks about other students or faculty
  • Sexual or vulgar acts towards peers or school staff

Possession of firearms, incendiary devices, explosives, articles, or substances usable as weapons or means of disruption of legitimate school functions calculated to intimidate, disturb, discomfort, or injure a member of the school community are strictly prohibited.

Cheating, copying the work of another student, falsifying homework assignments, and any other variation of academic dishonesty is prohibited

TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program will not tolerate any of the above-mentioned items. Noncompliance of the above-mentioned items are subject to Conduct Suspension or Dismissal. Re-admission for Conduct Suspension or Dismissal will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Director.

I understand the Student Behavior and Conduct Policy? *
If you are found using your phone in the truck's or withing 25 feet of the truck's you will be asked to go home for the remainder of the day and you will not have an opportunity to make up the time. I understand that if accumulate more than two class dismissals from using my cell phone, I will be dismissed from class I understand I cannot use my phone in the trucks or within 25 feet of the trucks? *

Facilities, Training Equipment and Education Staff

Classroom Instruction

Students in TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting CDL Program are taught by experienced instructors. We keep our class size small to ensure quality training and individual attention where needed. Our classroom is well lit, and climate controlled for the student’s comfort. The classroom tables are large for ample space per student for learning materials. The classroom instructor will use a white board, TV, and Trucking Industry DVDs for training of the basics of tractor-trailer driving, laws and requirements to get the CDL Permit.

Yard Instruction

The pre-trip inspection, maneuvering, backing, and coupling training will be done on our five- acre lot. There is ample room for all forms of maneuvering as well as straight line backing and ally docking.

Road Instruction

On the road training will be done in school owned, well-maintained equipment that is similar to what is on the road today. Students will drive with our Road Instructors on all types of roads such as city routes, interstate/highways, rural routes and mountainous locations for added education. Initial driving will be done during the day but as the training progresses, some night-time driving will be done as well. Set driving routes will be established and they will maintain a 50-mile radius from the school.

Student Dress Code and Conduct

You must wear weather appropriate clothing and be prepared for rain, wind or heat. It is recommended that you have access to an umbrella for both sunny and rainy days. Appropriate dress for climbing, crawling, kneeling and working in and around a semi-tractor and trailer environment is required. Work pants and jeans are required.

Please note: Sweatpants, leggings, crocs, open-toe shoe are NOT permitted. Do not wear anything that you don’t want ruined.

You will be sent home if you are not in jeans or work pants. This is for your safety.

I understand the dress code policy and will dress in the appropriate clothing. *

Weather Conduct

If weather is an average of 32°F for the entire day class will be moved to the shop. If the weather in the morning has not reached 32°F expect a 2-hour class delay.

4- Week Students (ONLY)

For class to move quickly and effectively we ask that all students obtain the following endorsements: GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, AIRBRAKES, TANKERS, AND COMBINATION.

 The first 5 days of class are dedicated to permits, by Thursday or Friday of the first week of the program you will have enough knowledge to pass all the required tests for the permit.

We ask that all students have their permits no latter than the Friday of the second week of class. If you are not able to obtain your permit, you will be moved to the next class.  (NO EXCEPTIONS)

I understand the 4-Week Policy *

4- Week Students (ONLY)

All items are required to be completed before you can complete your permit training.

1. Three- Four (3-4)  Days in-class permit training.

2. Read and complete these sections in the CDL Manual and answer the questions in the study guide.

3. You will need to call and schedule a time to take your permit test at a DMV of your choice.

4. You will need to take all 4 required DMV tests: General Knowledge, Combinations, Air Brakes and Tankers.

CDL Knowledge Tests (DMV)

The CDL knowledge tests are NOT open book tests.
All drivers will be required to pass all required CDL Knowledge Tests for the Class and/or type of vehicle the applicant wants to operate. 

No documentation of any kind and no cellular phones are permitted in the test area. Any applicant found cheating or committing an offense while testing, will have their CDL application or CDL license disqualified for a period of one year from the date of determination and will be required to obtain a Class D license if holding a CDL. The disqualified applicant may reapply (a full retest) for the CDL license after the one year period.

The CDL Knowledge Tests can be taken no more than two (2) times a in a 7 day period. Which also means that you should not take it twice in one day.

Driving Range Rules

  1. Driver’s license, permit and medical card must be always in possession of student while driving.
  2. No driving under the influence of alcohol and/or illegal drugs
  3. No driving while taking medication that will affect judgement or ability
  4. Smoking only in the approved smoking zone. Cigarette butts must be thrown in the approved container.
  5. Cell phones are not to be used while you are in the no cell phone zone or within 25 feet of the truck. Phones maybe used on break.
  6. Obey instructor’s directions at all times! If you don’t understand ask! The instructor is in charge of you and the vehicle. The vehicle may only be driven under the supervision of the instructor(s). Failure to follow directions or driving in an unsafe manner will result in termination of the session and possible removal from class.
  7. Two people in the truck at all times. Student/instructor or student/student.
  8. Discuss performance issues and needs with instructor after each session and progress report
  9. No glass containers
  10. Dress in a respectable manner, students must be in jeans or work pants. NO slip-on shoes; i.e., Hey dudes, crocs, sandals, or flip flops.
  11. Help keep the area clean throw way trash.
I understand the Range Rules and I also understand the gate policy. The student will be sent to the office to pre-trip if they are late. *

Track Pass

Before you will be allowed to be at the driving range you must have the track pass (NO EXCEPTIONS). Once you have taken all your documents to the office, they will give you a full release and a track pass.

You must have a track pass to be at the driving range. You will be required to wear it everyday while in class. If you do not have it or you have lost it, you will be required to pay the $25 replacement fee.

You will need to put your Drivers License, DOT Medical Card and Permit with your track pass daily. These  3 documents need to be in the pouch before you drive.

2 & 3 Weekers: Once you have fully completed the enrollment process, drug test , payment and orientation you will be given a “Track Pass”.

4 Weekers: Once you have fully completed the enrollment process, drug test , payment and orientation and passed all 4 required permit test’s you will be given a “Track Pass”.

Code of Conduct Statment

I hereby apply for enrollment at TFH Safety Solutions & Consulting, LLC in the Commercial Driver Training Course I have chosen. A representative has provided me with with option to recive a copy of code of conduct. By signing this we are in Agreement and any Financial Options or Agreements Accepted by the student.
