Women of Chapman Endowed Student Filmmaker Award

The Women of Chapman Endowed Student Filmmaker Award is a need and merit-based award available to undergraduate students to be used towards production costs related to their anticipated 2024-2025 thesis project.

The purpose of this award is to provide the valuable resources needed for productions that have a unique concept and/or distinctive opportunity intrinsic to the development of the story. Examples would include but are not limited to accommodations for shooting at distant location(s), renting specialty equipment, hiring a professional animal wrangler or securing period costumes.  Award recipients will be chosen based upon the merits of the script, the uniqueness of the concept and its value to the storytelling, the intended use of the grant, and the accomplishments of the individual team members.

Submissions will be vetted and narrowed to the top finalists. Finalists will then be asked to deliver a short five minute presentation to a panel consisting of Women of Chapman representatives. To remain eligible, all finalists MUST be available to deliver their pitch to the Women of Chapman panel. The format of the presentation will be in person scheduled during the first weeks of the Fall 2024 semester, on a TBD date and will be communicated to all award finalists.

Not all finalists are guaranteed to be funded, and award winners will be notified at the conclusion of their presentation.

Entries should be submitted no later than 8 a.m. on Fri. August 23, 2024. Late entries cannot be accepted.
