Fosters are not expected to provide medical care to their foster dogs. Rescue provides such care and reimburses fosters for any approved expenses. We ask that fosters care for the dogs as if the dog were their own and help us determine which family is best for their foster dog.

MA/NH/ME/RI RESIDENTS: We do not foster dogs in these states at this time. We do not go further north than CT. For residents in these states, we very much appreciate your interest and direct you to inquire with local rescues.

There are no bad/wrong answers. Some people can handle a dog with a lot of issues, some people need a dog that is already housetrained. Some people only want to foster certain breeds, and some people have no preferences. Please be honest in your answers to help ensure as pleasant an experience as possible for everyone involved.

We do not send dogs to homes whose pets are not (or were not) kept current on vaccines, wellness visits, and preventatives. We will verify with your vet that you keep (or kept) your pet(s) up-to-date on vaccines (Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, and Heartworm testing; Cats: Rabies & Distemper) and use heartworm and flea/tick preventatives year-round. If you have had cats or dogs living in your home in the past 2 years (including deceased pets), please supply us with your vet office name and contact information. Current titer testing records are an acceptable alternative for proof of vaccinations. Please make sure your vet has permission to release this information to us.

You also give permission to perform background checks to ensure that the applicant does not have a history of animal abuse/negelect or other such offenses. The information contained in this application is material to our decision to place a dog into a foster home and becomes part of the contract in the event you foster a dog from Big Fluffy Dog Rescue.
