Established by the Virginia Law Foundation's Board of Directors, the Fellows Program encourages and recognizes excellence in the practice of law and meaningful engagement in public service by members of the Virginia State Bar. Fellows support the programs and objectives of the Virginia Law Foundation by their philanthropy, their service to the community, and their leadership.
A Fellows nominee must:
- Be or have been an active or associate member of the Virginia State Bar for at least ten years
- Be a resident of Virginia
- Be a person of integrity and character
- Have maintained and upheld the highest standards of the legal profession
- Be an outstanding person in the community
- Be distinguished in the practice of law over the course of the nominee's legal career
Additional eligibility criteria include:
- A nominee can hold a constitutional office.
- A nominee cannot be currently serving as an elected representative in a representative body.
- A nominee cannot be a sitting judge.
- A nominee can be a retired judge or a judge on senior status.
Fellows nominations are due by midnight on June 15, 2025.
