Intro to Archery

Learn and practice the basics of archery with a ranger. This program is an introduction to basic archery and will provide lessons and experience in archery safety and shooting skills. All archery equipment is provided! Must be at least 8 years old to participate, and adults must remain with their minors. 

Please arrive at the Day Use Area at least 5-10 minutes before the program starts to sign waivers. We will spend about 30 minutes going over safety and basics, then you'll have 30-45 minutes to shoot. 

Space is limited, so registration is required.

Bring: close-toed shoes, drinking water, bug spray, and sun protection (sunblock, long sleeve shirt, hat). This event is outdoors, please dress for the weather.

FYI:

  • Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the program.

  • Program is free with park entrance ($5/person, children 12 & under are free) or Texas State Parks Annual Pass.

  • Use self-pay station when the office is closed.
  • The program may be canceled if no participants are present within 10 minutes of the start time, or in the case of inclement weather.

  • For groups larger than eight, please contact Ranger Sara for a private event.
