Kayak Litter Clean Up

Help the park stay beautiful and clean by picking up litter by kayak!

Join a park ranger to pick up litter at the lake edge of the park while kayaking.

Bring: Clothing that can get wet, a change of clothes, sun protection, water, and a snack. All other equipment will be provided by the park, including kayaks, personal floatation devices, and paddles.

Cost: Texas Parks and Wildlife Volunteers can enter the park for free!

Note:

- This program is weather-dependent, and programs are subject to changes or cancellations. Call the park for the most up-to-date information.

- Volunteers will be required to sign volunteer forms upon arrival for the program.

- All ages are welcome.

- Volunteers must be at least 16 years old if volunteering without a parent or guardian.

- Children will also have to have a parent or legal guardian present to sign off on their participation.

- Reservation closes at 5:00 pm the day before the event.

Prior kayaking skills and knowledge of how to swim are preferred for this program. If you need to develop your kayaking skills, check out our Kayaking 101 programs first. If you have the preferred skill and knowledge, type "I Understand." *

Any people you are signing up that are under the age of 13 must share a 2-seater kayak with an adult. Make sure that enough adults will be attending with your group to meet this requirement. Type "I Agree" to signify your understanding. *

Due to the outdoor nature of this program, it is dependent on weather conditions. The program will be canceled if any of the following conditions are present: • there are average wind speeds over 15 mph • there is a lightning strike within 6 miles within 30 minutes of the program or during the program • there is a 60% chance of heavy rain or thunderstorms forecasted 12 hours in advance • the air temperature plus the water temperature do not equal or exceed the number 120.
