Award Selection Criteria
ITS projects should have specific outcomes and exemplify innovation and benefit to the ITS industry. The selection committee will consist of the current ITS Heartland Board of Directors (those individuals involved in a nominated project will recuse themselves from the selection process).
Best ITS Project in the ITS Heartland Region (IA, KS, MO, NE, OK) - All projects, including research and studies, submitted must be completed and/or operational within the 5-state region of ITS Heartland within the last year. Projects can involve, but are not limited to traveler safety and security, emergency services, traveler information, traffic management, transit and mobility, infrastructure operations and maintenance technologies, fleet operations, commercial vehicle operations, connected/autonomous vehicles, software applications, and TSMO.
Best ITS Product in the ITS Heartland Region – New and/or recent ITS product, service, training program or new product application that exhibits the greatest innovation and benefit (to consumers, users, public safety, security, surface transportation efficiency, etc.). Products must demonstrate a design that furthers the development and/or deployment of ITS applications, as well as specific outcomes that result from the product or service.
President’s ITS Service/Recognition Award – This category is exemplified by outstanding service to the ITS Heartland community. This award is provided at the discretion of the President as appropriate. Nominations may be submitted through this process and should identify the nominee, the nominator, and a narrative explaining why the person should be considered for the award.
Please complete the following Best of ITS Heartland Application. The narrative should be detailed enough to present the merits of the entry. Only entries from ITS Heartland members will be eligible for consideration. Entries may include multiple partners, at least one of whom must be an ITS Heartland member. In addition, entrants may submit more than one project or product.
Award Selection Procedure
Applications will be reviewed and the selection committee will notify the finalists on March 30, 2018. More information may be required of the finalists and winners will be notified on April 13, 2018. Winners will be asked to provide a brief (3-5 slides) PowerPoint presentation illustrating their project or product.
Presentation and Venue
The Awards Ceremony will be held during lunch on opening day (April 24) of the 2018 ITS Heartland Annual Meeting. This event will be held at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln, NE. For more information, visit www.itsheartland.org.
