Important Deadlines

  • Early Registration: The deadline to receive Early Registration rates is May 1, 2017
  • Overnight Accommodation Reservations: The deadline to reserve your room at the group rate is May 19, 2017
  • Program Changes: Changes to the program must be completed by June 1.  To request changes to the program, send an email to: contact.naisa@gmail.com 
  • Childcare: Childcare for children ages 18 months to 6 years will be offered by UBC Childcare at The Nest, the student union building at the heart of campus. The cost is $50 per day. There will be 10 spots available.

Registration Pricing

  • Early Member Registration: $90 Student/Community member/Retired and $185 Regular
  • Early Non-Member Registration: $115 Student/Community member/Retired and $235 Regular
  • Late and Onsite Member Registration: $115 Student/Community member/Retired and $235 Regular
  • Late and Onsite Non-Member Registration: $140 Student/ Community member/Retired and $285 Regular 
  • One-Day Registration: $50 - The Day Registration Rate is only available to those who also join NAISA at the $25 rate on the membership website. It allows access to the conference for one day only.

Registration and Membership Deadlines to Appear on the Program

If you have been accepted to the Program in a panel, roundtable, film screening, or session, you must Register AND be a member of NAISA. All those listed in the 2017 Program MUST be members of NAISA.

To become a member or renew your membership, please click here. Membership includes a subscription to the journal NAIS. The deadline for registration for participation on the program is April 18. Membership is handled by the journal publisher University of Minnesota Press. Membership rates are below:

  • $25 - Student / Retired / Community Member
  • $50 - Starting out (mostly assistant professors)
  • $75 - Doing fine (mostly associates)
  • $100 - Comfortable (mostly full professor)

Travel Grant Application

NAISA members whose abstract proposals have been accepted for the 2017 conference may apply to the NAISA Council for small grants to help offset some of the travel costs associated with attending the annual meeting. Applications are due on or before April 15, 2017 midnight (PT). Recipients will be notified by April 30, 2017.  To obtain a copy of the application form, please click here.

Accommodations

The primary accommodations for NAISA 2017 will be on campus at UBC, in three locations that are only a few moments' walk from all conference venues. These three locations are the Walter Gage Residence, West Coast Suites and Ponderosa Commons.

Walter Gage Residence
Walter Gage Residence is providing a Gage One-Bedroom Suite with a queen bed in a bedroom, queen sofa bed in living room, fully-equipped kitchen and private washroom at a $162 rate plus tax per night.
 
West Coast Suites
West Coast Suites is providing a hotel suite with a king bed in a bedroom, queen sofa bed in living room, fully-equipped kitchen and private wash room at a $189 rate plus tax per night.
 
Ponderosa Commons
Ponderosa Commons is providing a Ponderosa Premium Single which is a  private bedroom with a single bed in a four-bedroom apartment with a shared washroom and kitchen (not equipped) at a $58 rate plus tax per night or a Ponderosa Studio Suite which is a private suite with a double bed, ensuite washroom and fully-equipped kitchen at a $130 rate plus tax per night.
