As one of the most decorated programs in the panhandle, we have nationally ranked teams ranging from Level 1 to Level 6. With this goal in mind, we consistently coach our athletes to portray positive characteristics, such as leadership, hard work, commitment, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and motivation. ZGA focuses on creating not just a champion on the floor, but a champion in life. It is Zero Gravity's goal to progress every athlete to their fullest potential to reach their highest goals. We are so excited to welcome you into our #ZGAFAMILY

What is All-Star Cheerleading?

All Star cheerleading is a competition sport that involves boys and girls performing a 2 minute and 30 second routine composed of tumbling, stunting, pyramids, and dance. This routine is performed and scored against other competitive teams at various local, regional, national, and worldwide competitions.
When we refer to tumbling, we mean gymnastic type skills like cartwheels and back handsprings. Stunting refers to a group of two or more individuals that elevate another cheerleader in the air. This also includes co-ed stunting that may only include one base and one flyer. Pyramids are a form of stunting but are done as a large group and are interconnected. Dance is a portion of a routine that consists of choreographed high energy dance moves.
The main difference between High School cheer and All Star cheer is that a High School cheerleading team’s primary purpose is to support a local school’s sports team and keep the crowd excited. An All Star team performs purely for the challenge, thrill, and competition of the sport. Other differences include All Star cheerleading seasons can be as much as a year long and All Star cheerleaders are not required to be from the same school or area.
We know you have choices when selecting a competitive cheer program for your child, and we are thankful you chose Zero Gravity Athletics this season. We have a fantastic year planned for our athletes and are over-the-moon excited about meeting everyone at team placements. Please note, competitive cheer requires a significant amount of time and financial commitment. We ask that you keep this in mind when registering your child for team selections. Again, thank you for choosing Zero Gravity Athletics. We are so thankful for your endless support and love.

When will tryouts take place?

Tryouts will take place the week of May 25th- 30th.

-How are tryouts at ZGA ran?

Tryouts will be very low stress. We will assess each athlete on their stamina, motions, jumps, and tumbling. Tryouts will be done in an individual setting to protect athletes against COVID-19. Specific time sign-ups are available below. The evaluations will be around 30 minutes long.

-Do I need any experience to tryout?

Experience is not necessary to attend tryouts!

-What fees are due the day of tryouts?

If you are a returning ZGA athlete, you will not be required to pay a tryout fee this season as we are trying to help those financially affected by COVID-19. If you are a new ZGA All-Star athlete, there will be a $25 tryout fee credited to your account per athlete registered.

- Does a parent or guardian need to attend tryouts?

No parents will be allowed to view tryouts if the gym is still operating under CDC Guildelines. Mandatory Parent/Athlete Handbooks will be sent out via email after you register your child for tryout time. Please complete this handbook when sent to you: This is an essential document that ZGA must keep on file.

-When will team placements be announced?

Summer Teams will be created and announced to the public via "Teal Reveal Experience" the week of June 1st. We will send out team placement via email all day long. Keep your email notifications turned on for this exciting experience!

**Please note that summer teams are fluid until choreography.

-When will practices begin?

Summer Teams will begin practicing under Phase 3 guidelines. We are wanting to begin practices the week of June 8th, if COVID-19 allows. Once you receive your team placement email, specific dates and times will be communicated ASAP.

Will my athlete compete with her summer team?

Team placements are not finalized until August 2020. Athletes who do not keep skills performed at tryouts may be moved to a different team and/or become an alternate for that team. Those athletes who showed marked improvement might be moved up a level as well. These same rules apply throughout the season and for the post season. Athletes must also show consistent attendance throughout the summer in order to keep their spot.

How can I become a crossover athlete?

Please check the crossover box in the Athlete information section if you wish to be considered for two teams. Crossover considerations are ultimately selected by the coaching staff.

USASF 2020-2021 Age Grid

Competitions will run from December to May, Competitions are the main part of an all star cheerleading season. No refunds will be given if you miss a competition for any reason, including sickness. Please consider this when making the commitment to ZGA. The week of competition we will provide compete times. Companies do not provide that schedule to me until the week of so we are not able to pass on the information until then.

Tentative Competition Schedule will be released in July

You will not receive a team specific practice schedule until teams are created and announced. All-Star teams will practice twice a week for two hours each practice.
