About Us...

Zero Gravity Athletics was founded in 2017. We are currently entering our fifth season, offering all-star cheerleading to the Florida Panhandle. As one of the most decorated programs in the panhandle, we have nationally ranked teams ranging from Level 1 to Level 6. Our goal is to be the most respected and admired gym in the Florida Gulf Coast area. With this goal in mind, we consistently coach our athletes to portray positive characteristics, such as leadership, hard work, commitment, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and motivation. ZGA focuses on creating not just a champion on the floor, but a champion in life. It is Zero Gravity's goal to progress every athlete to their fullest potential to reach their highest goals. We are so excited to welcome you into our #ZGAFAMILY

Where Are We Located?

We are located at:

341 Market Ave

Valparaiso, FL 32580

What do we offer?

At Zero Gravity Athletics, we offer competitive All-Star cheerleading at many different tiers. All Star Cheer is divided into categories by age and experience so that an athlete may participate in a way that fits them perfectly. At Zero Gravity Athletics, we offer Elite, Prep and the Novice tier. These tiers allow us to place athletes on teams where they can grow, be inspired and challenged throughout the season ahead!

What is All-Star Cheerleading?

All Star cheerleading is a competition sport that involves boys and girls performing a 2 minute and 30 second routine composed of tumbling, stunting, pyramids, and dance. This routine is performed and scored against other competitive teams at various local, regional, national, and worldwide competitions.

When we refer to tumbling, we mean gymnastic type skills like cartwheels and back handsprings. Stunting refers to a group of two or more individuals that elevate another cheerleader in the air. This also includes co-ed stunting that may only include one base and one yer. Pyramids are a form of stunting but are done as a large group and are interconnected. Dance is a portion of a routine that consists of choreographed high energy dance moves.

The main difference between High School cheer and All Star cheer is that a High School cheerleading team’s primary purpose is to support a local school’s sports team and keep the crowd excited. An All Star team performs purely for the challenge, thrill, and competition of the sport. Other differences include All Star cheerleading seasons can be as much as a year long and All Star cheerleaders are not required to be from the same school or area.

Common Questions

When will tryouts take place?

Tryouts will take place Friday, May 28th and Saturday, May 29th.

How are tryouts at ZGA ran?

Tryouts are ran in a group setting to assess each athlete's performance ability. We will assess each athlete on their stamina, motions, jumps, and tumbling.

Do I need any experience to tryout?

Experience is not necessary to attend tryouts! We welcome all beginners!

What fees are due the day of tryouts?

A tryout fee of $50 is required for all members that DID NOT sign up for the OVERDRIVE PACKAGE.

Does a parent or guardian need to attend tryouts?

Yes, every athlete under the age of 18 needs a parent/guardian to check-in their athlete the day of tryouts. Parents will receive a "parent package" the day of tryouts with information regarding Season 5.

When will team placements be announced?

Team placements will be announced the night of May 31st.

**Please note that summer teams are fluid until choreography.

When will practices begin?

Practice week will begin on June 1st.

Will my athlete compete with her summer team?

Team placements are not finalized until December 2021. Athletes who do not keep skills performed at tryouts may be moved to a different team and/or become an alternate for that team. Those athletes who showed marked improvement might be moved up a level as well. These same rules apply throughout the season and for the post season. Athletes must also show consistent attendance throughout the summer in order to keep their spot. Behavior is also  a factor in team placement.

How can I become a crossover athlete?

Please check the crossover box in the Athlete information section if you wish to be considered for two teams. Crossover considerations are ultimately selected by the coaching staff.

What is the difference between Prep/Novice & Elite teams?

Novice teams are for individuals who are new to All Star but ready for performance-based teams that are evaluated at events. Novice teams focus on strengthening technique and performance skills that help prepare athletes for competitive All Star teams.

Prep teams are for individuals with limited tumbling who want to strengthen technique and performance skills in a competitive team atmosphere. Prep teams typically require less time and cost commitments than are required of All Star Elite teams.

Competitions

Competitions will run from December to May, Competitions are the main part of an all star cheerleading season. Competitions are mandatory, if missing due to sickness you will need to provide a doctor's note. When one cheerleader misses a competition, for any reason, the routine has to be changed which hurts the entire team. No refunds will be given if you miss a competition for any reason, including sickness. Please consider this when making the commitment to ZGA. The week of competition we will provide compete times. Companies do not provide that schedule to me until the week of so we are not able to pass on the information until then. All teams will have the same competition schedule with an excepction to one or two events.

Tentative Competition Schedule will be released in July

You will not receive a team specic practice schedule until teams are created and announced. All-Star ELITE teams will practice twice a week for two and a half hours each practice. Our Prep/Novice team(s), including tinys, will practice twice a week for one and a half hour each practice. We typically hold team practices on Monday through Thursdays anywhere from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the occasional Saturday/Sunday additional practice if needed.
