The Daily O’Collegian scholarship is awarded yearly to an incoming student interested in any facet of journalism (print, online, photography, video). The scholarship is $5,000 per year ($2,500 awarded in for Fall and $2,500 for Spring semesters). Based on satisfactory performance, which includes maintaining a 3.0 grade point average, the scholarship is renewable for up to three more consecutive years for a total of $20,000.
In addition, the scholarship winner will have the opportunity to work for The Daily O‘Collegian up to 20 hours per week at an hourly rate. In that employment, the student will gain experience on the editorial, business and marketing aspects of our daily student newspaper, its web site (OCOLLY.COM) and the student radio station (KXZY). Employment within these areas would be determined based upon the student’s interests and the newspaper's needs.
If you are interested and think you meet the criteria for this scholarship, please fill out this form, which is due by March 16, 2012. The selection committee may choose finalists for this award and require follow-up interviews or essays. The winner will be notified in early April and will be invited to OSU's School of Media and Strategic Communications awards banquet that month.
